RULES FOR THE USE AND CARE OF A STOVE

On electric stove, cooking utensils should be essentially the same diameter as the top of the element used. The size of the stove is related to the size of the pan that goes on it and is not related to the speed at which it cooks. On gas stoves also, utensils of the proper size should be used and the flame adjusted so as not to extend beyond the best cooking results and proper stove safety precautions. Failure to follow this guideline increases the possibility of igniting clothing. Extreme care should be taken when wearing loose garments, particularly those with flowing sleeves. Make certain that gas or electrical installation is done by competent technician and electric stove circuit is properly grounded. Avoid blocking heated air circulation in oven when using cooking foil. Do not cover any openings in the oven bottom and do not cover entire shelves. Make sure that range is level. If not, cakes will rise unevenly.
To minimize spatters during broiling, use the broiler pan designed for that model's broiler not disposable ones. Clean all ranges regularly for sanitary and safety reasons in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Keep ventilating hoods and filters clean.
Do not use oven or surface units for heating the home.
Turn off surface units when cooking is finished or utensil is removed.
Do not use oven door or range drawers as a step ladder or chair; be particularly careful that children don't climb on oven or range.
Stand away from range when opening oven door and let hot air or steam escape before removing or placing food.
Keep children away from oven door surfaces during cooking or self-cleaning operations.
OVEN AND CABINET
The oven and cabinet are critical parts in both electric and gas ranges. The correct amount of insulation and the design of electric oven lank itself determine to a large extent the cooking results you can achieve with it.
One of the first things to check is that the oven is level. Place level at least 12 inches long on the center oven rack. Level from hold back and from side to side by turning the threaded feet
Ventilation
Every oven has a vent which allows air to enter, usually around file door itself, and flow out an opening located near the top of the oven. The door vent is often incorporated into the door seal it may appear is though part of the oven gasket is missing at the bottom of the door the upper vent often exits directly under one of the rear surface units. This ventilation system must be clear before good baking results can he achieved. Check it at any time when you are investigating a complaint of unsatisfactory oven temperatures.
